When Mississippi's Ordinance of Secession
| The Bonnie Blue FlagHarry MaCarthy
We are a band of brothers and native to the soil, Hurrah! Hurrah! For Southern rights hurrah! As long as the Union was faithful to her trust, Hurrah! Hurrah! For Southern rights hurrah! First gallant South Carolina nobly made the stand, Hurrah! Hurrah! For Southern rights hurrah! Ye men of valor, gather round the banner of the right, Hurrah! Hurrah! For Southern rights hurrah! And here's to old Virginia, the Old Dominion State, Hurrah! Hurrah! For Southern rights hurrah! Then cheer, boys, cheer, raise the joyous shout, Hurrah! Hurrah! For Southern rights hurrah! Then here's to our Confederacy, strong are we and brave, Hurrah! Hurrah! For Southern rights hurrah!

America the Beautiful text och YouTube
America The BeautifulKatharine Lee Bates wrote the original version in 1893. She wrote the 2nd version in 1904. Her final version was written in 1913. Here is a note from Katharine Lee Bates: "One day some of the other teachers and I decided to go on a trip to 14,000-foot Pikes Peak. We hired a prairie wagon. Near the top we had to leave the wagon and go the rest of the way on mules. I was very tired. But when I saw the view, I felt great joy. All the wonder of America seemed displayed there, with the sea-like expanse." America the Beautiful - 1913text: Katharine Lee Bates musik: Samuel Ward America the Beautiful YouTube-klipp

LXIII. Light Shining out of Darkness
by William Cowper God moves in a mysterious way His wonders to perform; He plants His footsteps in the sea, And rides upon the storm. Deep in unfathomable mines Of never-failing skill, He treasures up His bright designs, And works His sovereign will. Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take, The clouds ye so much dread Are big with mercy, and shall break In blessings on your head. Judge not the Lord by feeble sense, But trust Him for His grace; Behind a frowning providence He hides a smiling face. His purposes will ripen fast, Unfolding every hour; The bud may have a bitter taste, But sweet will be the flower. Blind unbelief is sure to err, And scan His work in vain: God is His own interpreter, And he will make it plain. |
